It’s alive! ALIIIIIIIVE!

By JonFriday - December 4th, 2009Categories: Uncategorized

Finally.  I ended up having to format my PC a few weeks ago & finally started the process of installing everything about three days ago.  I hope I never have to install XP sp1 & then update everything from there again.  Then the wireless card wouldn’t connect.  Then I couldn’t get the scanner to talk to the PC.  Finally got it all up & working, just before crashing last night/this morning.  And to celebrate, I finally scanned the line art for the next comic scanned!  Here’s the first panel.  When it starts with an elephant’s rear, you know there’s promise.  ^_^

One more thing.  I’m toying with dropping the color from the comic & going with screen tones.  I may go back & forth, combine the use of both or even split off & do two comics, one in color & one in black & white.  I’d love to hear opinions.

Portfolio

By JonWednesday - April 22nd, 2009Categories: Uncategorized

I haven’t really had a portfolio that was put together and ready to go in years, so I’m putting one together now. This kind of thing has always been difficult for me because I really do get uncomfortable about tooting my own horn, as it were. I just need to suck it up & deal with it. It must be done. I should get more examples on the site as well. I think that’ll be a project for tonight.

Amanda’s motherboard died & apparently they don’t make motherboards that support her processor or RAM anymore, so she picked up a new laptop. It came with a printer/scanner, which is nice as our existing scanner just died. I just got that up & working through the network. I’ve scanned a whopping one pic so far. Not to worry, though. It’ll be getting a lot more use. ^_^

I’m also trying something out with my friends on Facebook. It’s a game, of sorts. Every once in a while I’ll put a call out for subject matter for me to sketch. I’ll accept entries until a specific time and at that time I’ll randomly choose one and draw it, no matter what it is. Then I’ll post it on my Facebook page. I encourage everyone to be imaginative. Of course, there’ll be limitations to keep things reasonable. The first run was a bit spontaneous and didn’t really have much of a turnout. I’ve drafted up some ground rules that I’ll be posting here and on Facebook to make things a bit clearer. Hopefully it’ll be something fun for everyone and a great way to keep me drawing when I’ve run out of ideas.
