A little while ago I caught a news report on G4′s site about a project to create a robot that could sustain itself by foraging for organic material and converting said material into fuel. Of course the first thing that most news outlets proclaimed was that this Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot, or EATR, could consume flesh for fuel. EATR’s creators have since informed the world that their robot is strictly a vegetarian and reminded everyone that desecrating the remains of the fallen is a war crime. You’ve gotta love that crack journalism and impeccable fact checking. This was all too late for me, however because I’d already noticed the similarities. Not only between the look of one of the images of EATR and WALL-E but also how the name fit perfectly with the way Pixar named all of the robots in their movie. At first I toyed with merging WALL-E and EATR. Instead, I thought I’d build on how WALL-E was so friendly in the film & always introduced himself. Not that I’ve made EATR hostile or anything. He’s actually very friendly as well. See? He just wants to shake hands…
Oh, and should anyone working on EATR ever actually see this comic, I’d just like to say I love what you’re doing. I think the potential applications are impressive and varied. Keep up the good work.
