My name is Jonathan Coates and I am a freelance cartoonist with a “day job”.

What is Almost Otaku?

Almost Otaku is a webcomic.

What’s it about?

It’s about pretty much anything that I find humorous.  Common themes are anime, manga & video games, however if I find a personal experience or situation funny, it’s fair game. 

Is that all?

Nope.  Almostotaku.com is also home to a gallery of my work with examples of images from concept work to finished product.  It has been redesigned a couple of times and with this most recent change I have removed the forum and added a blog.

So… are you trying to get work?

Actually, yes.  Currently, I refer to myself as a freelance cartoonist with a “day job”.  My ultimate goal, however is to ditch the “day job” and work as a cartoonist, illustrator or graphic artist full time.
